A tourist visa to China falls into category F. A step-by-step procedure to get a category F visa from Nigeria to China is outlined hereafter
The process for getting a china visa is unique and different from most others, in the sense that you don’t get to pay a fee until you get your visa. Thus, unsuccessful visa applications do not constitute financial loss to the applicant.
Step 1 – Complete Visa application form
The visa application form can be found at http://www.travelchinaguide.com/embassy/pdf/visa-application.pdf. Print out the form and fill legibly (in ink) with accurate information. Make sure to append a recent passport photograph that meets the specified conditions. Peradventure you make any mistake in the process, it is advisable to print out a fresh form and refill. Illegible characters or false information may reduce your chances of success.
STEP 2: Compile Visa application documents
In preparation for the appointment scheduling stage, you should gather the listed documents into a folder:
Completed application form (from step 1);
“Confirmation Letter of Invitation” or “Invitation Letter of Duly Authorized Unit”. Your inviters are to get this letter on behalf of you;
Letter of introduction from your company (if applicable). The letter should besides identifying you, state the intended duration and purpose of your stay;
Original and one photocopy of your ID card;
Bank account statement for the last six months; for a first time visitor, the account balance for the account in the statements must be up to four million naira (4,000,000 NGN).
Original and coloured photocopy of the data page and Chinese-visa bearing pages (if any) ofyour international passport. The passport must have two or more blank pages, and also be valid for at least, six more months;
Evidence of hotel reservation in China; you can have this using the most trusted online booking website, meansBooking.com
Round-trip ticket between Nigeria and China;
A list containing all the documents that are submitted in step 3;
Any other documents the Chinese embassy might require of you.
STEP 3: Submit documents and Schedule Appointment
Once you have all the documents (listed in step 2) ready, proceed to the nearest embassy or consulate (see appendix for addresses). The embassy is open for application submission between 3p.m. and 5p.m. (WAT) on Tuesdays and Thursday which are not public holidays, only.
At the embassy, you shall submit all the application documents. Thereafter, you will be given an appointment slip which contains a date for your visa interview.
Note that you could have someone do this step of the process on your behalf.
STEP 4: Attend Interview
Once the fixed date is reached, you should proceed to the Chinese embassy or consulate-general where your appointment was scheduled with your international passport and appointment slip. You will be interviewed and the result of your interview will be made known to you on the same day. If successful, you will be provided with a pick-up form which will contain the date when you are to return for visa collection. In some cases though, a successful interview may not lead to actual visa issuance.
STEP 5: Wait for visa processing to complete. The typical wait period is one or two weeks after interview date.
STEP 6: Visa Pick-up
When the collection date specified on the pick-up form is reached, go back (or send a representative) to the embassy to collect your visa. If your application was successful, you will have to pay the visa fee before picking up your visa-adorned international passport. Otherwise, you may retrieve your passport and other submitted original documents at no cost.
Make sure to fund your debit/credit card adequately for fee payment. The visa fee ranges between 5000 NGN and 10000 NGN for a tourist visa – depending on the intended length of your trip.
